I have been making jewelry of one kind or another since 1984. Over the years I have done intricate beadwork using several different techniques, traditional metalsmithing using sheet metal, wire and fire, but I found my happy place with metal clay. I’m fascinated by the fusion of modern materials and old techniques.  

 

After experimenting with original PMC and a friend’s enameling kiln I decided to take an introductory class to see what I was missing. Then I applied for and received a grant to buy the necessary equipment to work with Metal Clay. I went on to complete the Rio Grande Certification Program in 2006 and I’m proud to say that I have the very first Camp PMC Certificate ever issued.

 

I have made my living as a full-time artist over the past 20 years and participated in juried craft shows throughout the southeast United States. I’m featured in the book Hand Crafted in the Blue Ridge and have been a member of two craft co-operative galleries in the North Western, NC area. I have recently retired to Lynchburg, VA, and I’m continuing to stock several galleries with jewelry for sale. I teach metal clay classes at the Florence Thomas Art School in West Jefferson, NC and have taught at the Chestnut Creek School of the Arts in Galax, VA. I have also been an instructor in Appalachian State University’s Craft Enrichment Program.
